New opportunities emerging from the after-sales market of new energy vehicles

Based on the development trend of new energy vehicles, the after-sales demand has changed, the channel mode and the after-sales ecology of new energy vehicle electric system including the motor, power battery and electronic control system have gradually evolved. New market opportunities have emerged.

Firstly, there are changes in after-sales demand. The traditional maintenance demand of internal combustion engine parts and oil gradually disappeared (oil, filter, etc.), but the maintenance value of tires, electric system maintenance (battery detection, voltage balancing, etc.) and coolant increased.

Channel model maintain evolution. OEMs will play a more critical and leading role in the after-sales of new energy. The advantages of authorized channels will appear. Chain maintenance workshop can further obtain the after-sales flow of new energy and accelerate the integration of independent after-sales market by cooperating with OEMs. The electric system maintance will be the main new demand and profit point of EV aftermarket, which will be mainly controlled by OEM and battery supplier.

Battery ecological recycling gain expansion. The after-sales service of electric system collects retired batteries based on the maintenance business. As the core resource of battery recycling, the industrial chain coverage of the service network will be extended.

Tires: Large-capacity batteries make EV cars to be much heavier and tires to wear more weight. EV will typically require custom tires with lower roll resistance, which have higher value.

Accident & sheet metal will be the main profit source of the after-sales market of EV cars. The cost of sheet metal for new energy vehicles is higher because the appearance and modeling are more complex than traditional oil cars, considering its innovation on manufacturing technique.

Car beauty and washing: the proportion of female and young consumers increased, and the degree of attention and care for the appearance of cars increased. EV owners tend to spend more of their budget on beauty and washing comparing with regular maintenance expenses for the traditional oil car.

In summary, the after-sales demand of new energy vehicles will rise rapidly in the next 2-3 years and become an important contributor which cannot be ignored in the after-sales market. In the future, cleaning, wheel protection, accident sheet metal and electric system maintenance constitute the main pillar of the new energy maintenance field.
